Things they may both have or things that may be unique to the genre.

Common camera angles: They both have:

    • Over the shoulder shots
    • high angle shots when making a character smaller
    • low angle shots when making a character bigger
    • wide angle shots (like most film genres)
    • many person shots for instance...
    • two person shot of both of the leading actors
    • three person shot of the female or males friends
    • establishing shots of the many places
    • tilts for buildings to the people
    • pan shots of the beautiful place the people may be vacationing
    • track shot when the characters angrly storm away from a location or when they are running to let off steam
    • zoom out when they run to each other for a kiss or hug
Common Mise-en-scene: They might both have:

    • places that a beautiful or build on character development like a familiar place to the character that builds the mood of the movie
    • the makeup is usually like but in some scenes that make the female lead character stand out they may do amore heavy makeup for the enhanced "beauty" of the charractor
    • the settings can be several to only a couple the lead characters visit. For instance if its in a school setting ,they may only interact there ,and possibly their home or when they go on a date.
    • There can be a recurring pattern to the script like the female is clumsy or the male is headstrong.
    • The props are very similar with this genre due the many similarities, however if  in the drama someone is dying or dies the props would be for a funeral and would be very dramatic. For romance movies it would be like a big wedding and all the stuff that goes into a beautiful wedding would need to be there.
Common editing in your genre: They both have:

    • Many jump cuts
    • inserts (texting)
    • action matches
    • eye-line match
    • split screens
    • transitions that can move..
    • swipe transitions
    • fade out
    • fade in
Elements of the genre: They might both have:

    • Can be a strong female lead and a weak male lead
    • Can be a bad boy and a good girl
    • Can be a strong female lead and a strong male lead to where they both contradict each other but at the end work
    • the settings are like previously stated
    • For the drama however there is usually a breakup and get back together scene or the female character (or  male) moves on with their life.
    • For the Romance there is scenes that are affectionate with each other and possibly scenes where they fight and make up
    Common sounds:

    • classical music when they are somewhere fancy
    • sad music when the mood of the scene is sad
    • happy or up-beat music when they are doing something fun
    • there can be a sound bridge to add the effect that a situation has happened before or it connects two scenes together
    • there can be the sounds of the wedding bells for when they get married or the classical wedding  hymn
What elements of the genre you like:
I like the different things you can do with the two genres and due to the similarities lots of times the movie that is a romantic movie has also a drama aspect to it to add more emotion to the plot and deepen the story.  I like the idea of a Drama manly due to the many ways you can make them, they can be sad and happy at the same time. The Drama genre can take the audience through many emotions at the same time through the different scenes. And the Romance genre can even out the movie with a happy ending.

What don't you like about it:
I don't like how most of the moves for these genres are so similar to each other, Drama can be sad and happy and Romance has a happy ending.

Why did you choose this genre : These genres can be stand alone movies or can be combined due to the many similarities, the different ways my group can shape our ideas to this genre makes it the best option.
    Ideas about it:
My group won't be making a Romance movie like the example above, our movie will challenge the Romance movie conventions ,and stay closer to the Drama genre (while adding a few romance aspects inside).
